Caps were located and retreived from Al Small's house along with the Kaps for Kids documents, flag and banner
Thank you Kent Winter!. Dan will keep in touch with Sanford and Avera for future visits.

Yankton Memorial Planning committee: Riverboat days August 17th. The parade had a good turnout and went smooth. Tim
Madden drove his truck with banners. Dan Anderson drove the Submarine float. Pictures are posted on Facebook and the website

Storekeeper: If interested contact Kent for all the items we need for vests, caps, pins & patches through the National site.
Kent will order calanders. Please let him know if you want one so we make sure to order enough

Old/Unfinished business:

MK-14 Torpedo: Brian had made contact with the base in NJ, the Navy has taken some of the torpedos back from that memorial.
The Navy Historical group is looking at getting us a torpedo. The torpedo would remain property of the Navy and we would be
responsible for maintenance and transportation. We have not heard back since first contact. Brian has reached out several times
to the Keyport museum in Washington State where the artifacts are kept, but no concrete leads yet on getting any torpedo

USS South Dakota SSN-790: We received some memoribelia and a signed oil painting (5 of 25) by Mickey Harris from Jeff Alvey
Thank you Jeff for keeping us in the loop on the South Dakota status. Brian will get glass put on the frame to protect the painting

Parades: Turkey Days in Worthington, MN September 14th went well although low turnout (3 members) Thank you again, Dan
for helping by pulling the float and organizing the event.

New Business:

Booths at Fairs : Clifford Kranzler attended the Aberdeen fair with DAV and offered to show some of our USSVI and
USS South Dakota memoribelia. Kent provided samples to show/sell there. Clifford contacted Brian before September meeting
and said the samples were a hit. He will provide more information at the next meeting.

Glenn Harris transferred the District 3 Commander position to Dan Anderson at the meeting.
Congratulations Dan on your new appointment.

Kent made a motion that we suggest to National USSVI that we should band together on a national level to locate
the lost boats of WWII. That motion was seconded by Brian. All members present agreed. Brian will contact National
to see if any interest can be persuaded.

Gerold Davy asked about the bylaws, The bylaws and constitution have been approved at the District and
National level, Dan Anderson, the new District Commander will sign the bylaws to validate. A copy will be available
to view on our website.

Tim Madden motioned that we hold the Yankton memorial ceremony and Riverboat Days parade every other year alternating
between the two. The motion was seconded by Kent Winter. After discussion, the members present decided unanimously
that the parade would be on odd years and the Memorial ceremony would be after a base meeting on even years.
The next ceremony is scheduled for May 2020.

Al Small has moved to AZ. Kent Winter motioned that we get a plaque created and presented to Al for all he has done for
the Scorpion Base. The motion was seconded by Tim Madden. Al was the Kaps for Kids Chairperson and well as the cook on
numerous occasions. He was the DAV member that got us the ability to hold our meetings in the DAV facility in Sioux Falls.
He also arranged for Gwen (from Swamp Daddy's) to come in to cook the meals before the meetings. Al has been quite an
influence for our base. Tim offered to present the plaque once it was available and also to contact the local AZ Base
about the presentation.

Tim Madden also motioned that we do the same for Jim Black for his service in creating the group, getting the memorial set
and the fact that he is the last remaining WWII sub vet in South Dakota as far as we can determine. That motion was
seconded by Brian Schnurr and agreed on by the group present.

Dan Anderson suggested a Veterans Day group gathering again for the benefit of local children, similar to the previous event
at the McCrossan Boys ranch a few years back. If interested contact Dan before Veterans Day November 11th.

Brian Schnurr motioned for a Watertown, SD meeting for the subgroup to accomodate those in the group that travel down from
the North. Kent Winter seconded the motion. After discussion the group agreed that the April 2020 meeting would be held
in Watertown. Gerold Davey should be able to locate a place to meet before then.

Kent Winter motioned for making contact with the National USSVI to discuss national ads for recruitment of new submariner
members and retention. Brian Schnurr seconded that motion and will contact National for information.

The meeting was adjourned at 1435. The boat was surfaced by Brian Schnurr.
Next meeting is Saturday, November 16th, 2019 at the SF DAV.

The 50/50 drawing was held and Glenn Harris had his number pulled. $25 went to Glenn and $25 went to the base.
